About Tony
Tony serves a mission of cultivating teams of learners and learning by connecting with people and ideas, bringing shape to thought, and seeking always to understand.
As a career educator, Tony is fueled by the immense trust that families and communities place in K-12 education to nurture young people into the drivers of our collective future.
Since joining ALP in 2014, Tony’s contributions to learning communities across the country have taken many forms. As a consultant, coach, designer, and project leader, he has supported development of the professional capacity of stakeholders at every organizational level from classroom to boardroom. He flexibly applies a range of partnership roles across a diverse array of services, pairing a systems-oriented approach to change leadership with human-centered practices that empower both team members and beneficiaries to bring a shared vision to life.
Examples include developing and launching division-wide learning models, shepherding statewide innovation networks, and activating local implementations of learner-centered instruction, purposeful technology integration, and balanced assessment.
When he isn’t partnering with schools to amplify student-driven learning, you can find Tony “digging in the crates” to find hidden gems in local record stores, cheering on the student-athletes of virtually every sport in which the University of Virginia Cavaliers compete (Wahoowa!), or finding ways to appreciate with awe the natural beauty of the world in which we live.
