Dr. Katy Fodchuk will be leading participants through a number of thoughtful exercises and experiences that will help you to uncover areas of strength and concern as you endeavor to create a healthy and thriving workplace for all stakeholders. \nWhat are the Outcomes? \n\nExpand networks of amplified work by creating a space for authentic collaboration\nEmbrace unique spaces that can contribute to new insights and perspectives not typically explored in more traditional meeting spaces\nEmpower community voice while focusing on professional and personal growth\nBreak down district silos and build a diverse network by connecting leaders across district and state lines\nA clear plan and pathway to improve workplace wellness\n\nWhat is the Schedule? \n\nThe experience will begin at 5 pm on November 2nd and conclude at 12pm on November 4th. Attendees engaged in reflective conversations around district readiness\, policy\, and sustainable AI strategies.\nInsightful Keynotes & Sessions: Dr. Jules White spoke about the next horizon of AI in Education\, and Dr. Alec Couros shared valuable insights during an in-depth Q&A focused on AI and assessment innovation\, and designing authentic\, future-ready evaluation systems as well as thoughtful approaches to family and community engagement. Breakout sessions featured practitioners and pioneers\, offering actionable strategies and frameworks for integrating AI into teaching and learning.\nSpotlight on Sustainability: Leaders from Loudoun County and Henrico County Public Schools joined other K–12 innovators to discuss long-term strategies for scaling AI-enabled models. These conversations focused on capacity building\, professional learning ecosystems\, and equitable access to AI resources.\nNetworking and Collaboration: Through roundtable discussions\, collaborative planning\, and informal connections\, the summit facilitated intentional relationship-building between district leaders\, partners\, and facilitators.\n\n\nNext Steps\nSummit participants gained insights and tools to guide their districts through the coming school year. Hosted at Surrey Schools’ Resource & Education Centre\, the two-day gathering created space for dialogue around pedagogy\, ethics\, governance\, and practical strategies. \nThank you to our summit partners Google for Education\, PowerSchool\, and Wayground (formerly Quizizz). \n \n\nContexts\, Voices\, and Foundations\nDay One\, Contexts\, Voices\, and Foundations\, emphasized big-picture framing and foundational considerations. \n\nDr. Soroush Sabbaghan’s Keynote grounded the discussion in the pedagogical and ethical imperatives of adopting AI. His address challenged leaders to avoid uncritical adoption and instead shape AI use to reflect human-centered values and inclusive education.\nBreakout Sessions highlighted practical approaches: Wayground’s personalization and differentiation tools\, Google for Education’s Gemini for streamlining workflows\, PowerSchool’s global perspectives on AI adoption\, and ALP’s integration of two AIs—Artificial Intelligence and Appreciative Inquiry—into strategic planning.\nHot Topics in the afternoon explored transparency\, governance\, authentic writing practices\, and parent/community engagement. These sessions surfaced the complexity of introducing AI into schools responsibly.\nThe AI and the World of Work panel connected K-12 education to broader industries\, reinforcing the need to prepare students for an AI-rich future.\nThe day closed with reflection activities and an evening networking reception.\n\n\nPractice\, Leadership\, and Next Steps\nDay Two\, Practice\, Leadership\, and Next Steps\, shifted to applied practice and leadership action. \n\nThe Keynote from Dr. Alec Couros provided a comprehensive overview of generative AI’s current state and emerging directions\, equipping leaders with frameworks to guide thoughtful implementation.\nBreakout Sessions covered inclusive classrooms\, global adoption trends\, Gemini in practice\, and AI-driven meeting optimization with Elk Island Catholic Schools.\nLater sessions introduced innovative applications such as agentic AI in leadership\, AI-powered video tools\, AI for superintendents/directors\, and Canva AI for design efficiency.
