Jared Cotton, Ed.D.

Senior Education Consultant

About Jared

Jared is an experienced educator and school division leader who is passionate about developing successful leaders, creating strategic plans that work, and helping leaders implement innovative practices to ensure adults and students realize their full potential.

Jared is an experienced educational leader who is known for implementing innovative practices in K-12 education. He realized education was his calling when we worked as a counselor at a residential treatment center for troubled youth. It was that experience that helped him realize that engaging, innovative, relevant instruction and high expectations can transform a child’s trajectory in life. This is what prompted his 30+ career in education and eventually led to his two word purpose: “Inspire Hope.” This purpose continued throughout his career as he served as an elementary teacher, elementary and middle school assistant principal, director for assessment and accountability, associate superintendent, and division superintendent for both rural and suburban school districts in Virginia as well as a professor in educational leadership for several colleges and universities. In addition, he served as a senior leadership coach for several new division superintendents.

When he is not consulting, you can typically find him on the tennis or pickleball court, volunteering at church, or spending time with his family.

Jared enjoys reading leadership books by John Maxwell and John Gordon and always enjoys a great leadership podcast. He is also inspired by books that describe innovative, out of the box approaches to teaching and learning.
