Students from diverse backgrounds with unique needs rely on Winchester Public Schools to not only prepare but to empower them to thrive in a rapidly changing world. The Division’s strident focus on achieving equity for all learners and bolstered by its vision, mission, and Empower 2025 Goals.

In partnership with Dell Technologies, ALP collaborates with division leaders to operationalize the Empower 2025 vision through strategic planning, transparent monitoring systems, learning model development, and professional learning opportunities for site-based leaders and teachers.

Organizational Change Leadership

As a means of operationalizing the Empower 2025 Strategic Plan, a team of senior consultants is engaged in activating three critical priorities. In partnership with the WPS board and Superintendent, ALP is co-designing a community dashboard that measures progress made against each Objective and Action Step. Consultants are also working with cabinet-level and school leadership teams to assess and continuously refine the resources to realize each Goal on a quarterly basis.

2020 - 2022

Strategic Planning

In February of 2020, the community of Winchester was poised to initiate a collaborative, focused strategic planning process. In partnership with senior leaders from ALP and Dell Technologies, the Division embarked on a process-driven approach to community planning that culminated in the Empower 2025 vision with an interactive KPI dashboard.

2019 - 2021

Learner-Centered Experience Design

Schools leaders across the division recognize that the design and implementation of authentic PBL experiences can be amplified when teachers are granted time to work together and a coach to stretch their thinking. With support from ALP, teachers from the middle and intermediate schools collaborate to leverage their internal expertise to design high-impact PBL units that align with the Empowered Learning Model.

2019 - 2019

Learning Model Development

The Winchester community is committed to ensuring ALL students have the knowledge, skills and dispositions to embrace rigorous challenges and enrich their civic community. In collaboration with ALP consultants, WPS leadership invited teachers, students, administrators and community leaders to engage in an iterative design process to develop an Empowered Learning Model with supporting learner progressions that will drive learning, teaching and leading across the division. The Empowered Learning Model becomes the foundation for the development of the next strategic plan.

Discovery Sessions

At a very early phase in our professional learning partnership, leaders from Winchester County, Dell Technologies and ALP convened to engage in preliminary visioning activities. The critical query in these protocol-based planning activities: how might WPS leverage a vision for Empowered Learning to sustainably serve all students of diverse circumstances and learning strengths?
